Transportation FAQs

4268 Guemes Island Rd.
Anacortes, WA 98221

Seattle Tacoma International Airport aka SeaTac is the closest major airport. Prices will be the most affordable, and car rentals and public transportation are easily accessible.
If you’d like to fly to another nearby airport, feel free, but the information in these FAQs assumes you are flying to and from SeaTac.

If you are planning on taking the shuttle, here’s what I would recommend:
Friday 6/20 by 2 PM
Monday 6/23, 1 PM at the earliest
If you are renting a car, you can arrive later and leave earlier because you are not beholden to shuttle schedules.
-
This depends entirely on your preferred way to travel. You do not need to rent a car to arrive safely on Guemes and have a grand time.
If you are planning on spending time in Seattle before or after the wedding, public transportation and Uber/Lyft is easy and accessible.
If you are trying to book specific flight times, you travel with lots of stuff, and you like the flexibility and security of your own vehicle, you should rent a car. If you’d like to explore more of Washington, renting a car would also be best.
Not renting a car? This shuttle will get you nearest to the ferry terminal. Taking the shuttle requires you to purchase shuttle tickets and follow their schedule, but it really is not that difficult. Please let Sarah know if you need help navigating this process!
-
Absolutely! If you want to rent a car and keep it affordable by sharing the fun with new friends, please let me know and I’ll connect you with other awesome guests.

You will take the Bellair Shuttle to the Anacortes Shell Station. This stop is a twenty-minute walk to the Guemes Island Ferry Terminal.
It is more than likely that a few guests will be taking the same shuttle. You can plan to walk or Uber to the ferry terminal together. This is a safe area and the walk would be quite nice.
There is also a local bus loop that will drop you off right at the ferry landing, but it stops running at 4:30pm.
-
Yes! Once you book your flights, you should reserve your shuttle seats.

Guemes Island Ferry Terminal.
This is important! There is another major terminal nearby that I won’t even name so that you don’t get confused though you’d figure it out before you set sail.
-
That depends! Here’s the Guemes Island Ferry schedule.
-
Nope! Just drive or walk up to the ferry terminal. If there is a really long line, you may need to wait until the next ferry, so get in line well before the ferry is scheduled to leave.
If you are driving, an attendant will walk up to your window to sell you a ticket. Tickets are good for one round trip. You must pay with a debit or credit card, no cash.
Adult Passenger $4.50
Vehicle & Driver Under 22′ $13.50
Vehicle longer than 22′ less than 30′ $21.50

We plan to arrange some sort of universal “I’m headed to Robbie and Sarah’s wedding” rendezvous spot so that those who drive on the ferry can pick up those who walked on. We will also have a family member taxiing walkers to and fro. In short, don’t worry - someone will pick you up!
The ferry drops you off at Guemes Island General Store, which is a cool place to sit and regroup and have a cookie or a drink, while you wait a few minutes for a ride.

Sarah still finds Washington’s ferry system novel. She knows what you’re feeling. If you have more questions, send her a text or give her a call!
-
You can catch the ferry as early as you’d like and hang out until 4 PM check in. You can take the ferry as late as 6:15 PM and you’ll stillmake it for the Welcome Dinner, which starts at 7 PM.
-
You can catch the ferry as early as you’d like on Saturday. The latest ferry you can take to make it in time for the ceremony is 2:45 PM.
